Our classes focus on selected topics and real-life situations. Activities are designed to help students understand and respond to those topics and situations as they would in the real world.
Instructor-led Experience
Showa Boston instructors have a minimum of 15 years of teaching experience. Instructors will lead the conversation in the online and In-Person class and work with students directly.
Japanese Conversation Partners
A select group of Japanese student partners, including students studying at Showa Boston, will participate in conversational practice during the class, targeting key learning areas.
Event
Collaborations with Cultural Exchange Initiative and other organizations
Spark Exchange Program
Collaborating with the Cultural Exchange Initiative, Showa Boston students join CEI’s Spark program each summer for 2-3 weeks in Japanese schools. They lead English Immersion and Active English Presentation camps, gaining firsthand experience with Japanese culture and society. Many participants were later accepted into the JET Program.
:Re_ Party
:Re_ is our annual Japanese-learning group party. We welcome the chance to bring the Japanese-learning community together for this special event.
LET’S TALK ABOUT ANIME
3-day summer event partnering with Anime Boston and Cultural Exchange Initiative. Courses in conversational Japanese plus some terms used in anime and games for Anime fans and students.
Our unique relationship with Showa Women’s University has afforded us the opportunity to support thousands of Japanese students over the past 30 years, while at the same time enriching our Boston community’s relationship with Japan.
What learners are saying
Great school.
I've been studying Japanese for 1 year with them (2 semesters) and just signed up for the next one. Teachers are very professional. This school is the best in Boston for Japanese language learners.
- Maria
The campus itself is lovely and there is lots of free parking, which is helpful if you are visiting for class. If you like Japan and Japanese culture, want to learn Japanese, or meet Japanese friends, this is a great place to get involved.
